MISSION

Mission is to share God's love and forgiveness to all incrcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them; and to assist the transition to becoming a productive citizen.

SITUATION

The Rio Grande Valley is the home of the Segovia Correctional Unit. Kairos volunteers work to make the transition back into society as successful as possible for inmates. We do this by bringing them the love of Christ in a three-day weekend experience inside with volunteers from a number of Christian churches throughout South Texas. This weekend involves sharing the message of God's love and bringing home cooked food and cookies to the participants.

There are two groups who make this work: the Inside Team and the Outside Team. The Inside Team works directly with participants while the Outside Team prepares food and prays for the success of the Inside Groups and the participants.

GOALS

• To bring the word of the Lord to inmates so they can know that they are loved and worthwhile.
• To assure a smooth transition back into the "free world" society for participants.
